Duties and
Responsibilities: Dance therapists work with adults and children who are
suffering symptoms including depression, anxiety,
physical/psychiatric/neurological disorders, learning difficulties, dementia,
autism, behavioural problems or congenital/emotional problems.
Salary: $60,000 - $80,000
a year or more
Education: Dance
therapists are required to have a master’s degree, which entails at least two
years of graduate level education after completing a four year college degree.
The undergraduate education should include a liberal arts background, plus
extensive dance training and experience, according to the ADTA.
Reflection: I would not
want to be a dance therapist because I’m not good with communicating. Also, I
wouldn’t like to dance in front of people.
